Fujifilm X-M5

I really wanted to get a new camera that would take better photos than my iPhone but would be easy to carry. I was also not really interested in spending tons of time editing photos. The Fujifilm X-M5 seemed to fit the bill and after a few weeks on a waitlist, I just got my hands on one. I am still working on figuring out which simulations I like and I went to Stanley Park and the Vancouver Aquarium to try it out. It was a good chance to use the camera for landscapes, macro and in low light situations. I want to continue experimenting close to home so that by the time I’m travelling I know how to use the camera and can take photos without the stress of trying to figure things out on the spot.

I thought the best way to see the difference in the simulations was to first get used to what is pre-programmed on the dial. So this is 2 outdoor scenes, one with lots of colour and one that’s already pretty monochrome.

I really liked the look of the NN, Nostalgia Negative, and used it for most of the rest of the photos. The rest of the photos from that day are in the next entry.
