That’s weird

As I’m packing up to start travelling I’ve been looking through some of my old photos. I went to Langara College for photography about a billion years ago. I did my internship at The Province newspaper and while I was there the dark room staff were almost all laid off. I remember Ian Hanomansing from CBC News coming through the office and doing a story about how photography was moving from analog to digital. It wasn’t a great time to be starting a photography career, also I wasn’t a very good photographer.

During my internship I was able to go to some Canucks games at the Pacific Coliseum and this is the only photograph I can find from one of those games. Its actually a photo of photo so the quality is crappy. If you look closely you can see that Kirk McLean has the word “weird” on the bottom of his skate. The other Canuck is Martin Gelinas but I can’t remember what game it was. Sports photography was always so fun but also required a lot of expensive equipment. Once I left school photography was just a hobby. I had a few different DSLR cameras over the years but it was always such a hazzle to haul them around on holiday.

I traded in my Canon Rebel T6 and all the lenses I’ve collected over the years for a Fujifilm X M5. It’s a nice compact camera but with interchangeable lenses. I’m hoping I can get myself to an F1 race next year to try the M X5 out and see how it does with high speeds.
